A.        GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Adult Program Manager is responsible for the organization and administration of specific volleyball programs for adults (18+) in the Lower Mainland & Fraser Valley areas. Knowledge of programs across the Province is also part of the job description.

B.         ROLE

The Adult Program Manager is to act as:

A Planner in terms of the preparation of the various programs of the Association as directed.
An Administrator in terms of the ongoing execution of Volleyball BC programs.
A Facilitator in terms of the athlete participation in these programs.
A Communicator in terms of channeling information to ensure maximum participation in Volleyball BC programs.
An Implementer in terms of assisting volunteers in carrying out the Association’s programs.
An Educator in terms of having primary responsibilities of exposing Association members and secondarily non-members, to Volleyball BC activities and programs.
C.         LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

Structure

Reports to:       The Director of Operations
Works with:     All other VBC staff
Works with:     Outside of VOLLEYBALL BC:           

- Adult Volleyball Program Delivery Groups (ex. Urban Rec, Cambie Sports, TFC Volleyball, 6Pack Indoor Beach Facility, local community centers)

Power of Decision

The Program Manager in consultation with the Director of Operations has sufficient authority to take measures that are necessary in the daily management of specific programs under his/her jurisdiction within the budgetary and policy limitations of Volleyball BC.

D.        PROGRAM GOALS

1.         To provide a quality service to a large number of participants by offering a wide range of programs for adults of all skill levels including leagues, skills clinics and tournaments.
2.         To provide an active and social atmosphere for people to spend their leisure time.
3.         To help develop and maintain volleyball skills amongst the adult population.
4.         To generate funds for youth athlete development.

E.         JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  IMPLEMENT ADULT BEACH TOURNAMENTS

Communicate as required with other delivery groups to develop a cohesive schedule Communicate as required with participants
Communicate with staff if someone else is managing the facility during the event
Communicate with the officials allocator(s) well ahead of time
Create schedules for the tournament categories which follow minimum standards for Volleyball BC tournaments: minimum 4 matches / day
Prepare the supplies & equipment for the tournament: scoresheets, line-up cards, draw, pool sheets, balls, med kit
Arrange prizing for tournament winners
Compile results of tournaments and issue press releases to relevant media, and put the info on the website
2.   IMPLEMENT CLINICS & CAMPS

Arrange for coaches to work at clinics and camps
Book venues for clinics and camps (variety of locations in the FV / LM is best)
Provide an outline for the coaches about the camp
Supply the coach with a participant checklist and necessary equipment
3.   IMPLEMENT ADULT TIER (INDOOR) TOURNAMENTS

Communicate as required with participants
Communicate with staff if someone else is managing the facility during the event
Communicate with the officials allocator(s) well ahead of time
Create schedules which follow minimum standards for Volleyball BC tournaments: minimum 4 matches / day
Prepare the supplies & equipment for the tournament: scoresheets, line-up cards, draw, pool sheets, balls, med kit
Arrange prizing for tournament winners

4.   IMPLEMENT ADULT INDOOR LEAGUES (FALL / WINTER / SPRING)

Communicate as required with other delivery groups to develop a cohesive schedule
Communicate with existing and potential new venues (ex. schools and community centres)
Communicate as required with returning participants
Develop and execute a promotional strategy to recruit new participants
Communicate with staff if someone else is managing the facility during the event
Provide a schedule for the league & all the necessary equipment.
5.   IMPLEMENT ADULT OUTDOOR LEAGUES (SPRING / SUMMER)

Communicate as required with other delivery groups to develop a cohesive schedule
Communicate with existing and potential new venues (ex. schools and community centres)
Communicate as required with returning participants
Develop and execute a promotional strategy to recruit new participants
Communicate with staff if someone else is managing the facility during the event
Provide a schedule for the league & all the necessary equipment.
